Bright-On Bay Dental partnering with Local Daycares

Relationships and a safe environment help children to explore, learn through play and go on to form healthy, happy lives and relationships. We want to partner with daycares in the area to help children and their families begin their dental journey with a good strong start. We see daycares as an ideal opportunity to implement an oral health program to help promote good oral health habits to children and give back to the community.

The team at Bright-On Bay Dental want to help children build a good understanding of healthy oral health habits and the role of dental practitioners before they even get to their first dental visit.

Oral health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Developing good oral hygiene habits at a young age is crucial in preventing dental problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. Unfortunately, many young children do not receive adequate dental care, which can lead to serious health problems in the future. It is not uncommon these days, that children as young as 3-4 year olds, have to have dental treatment (which could have been prevented) carried out under general anaesthesia!

Daystars Early Learning Centre, 15th August 2024

In celebration of Dental Health Week, we had the pleasure of visiting Daystars Early Learning Centre in Bardwell Valley. The children learned just how important their teeth are for essential daily practices like speaking and eating. We explained how our teeth help us break down food into smaller pieces, and how we can keep them healthy and strong. The kids all had turns asking questions about the dentist, we are thrilled to see them again next year in March 2025!

Montessori By-The-Bay, 26th March 2024

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Montessori By-The-Bay, and it was truly a delightful experience. The children were eager and curious, with many questions about dental health. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm.

One of the important lessons we shared with the children was how to correctly brush. Did you know that brushing your gums is just as important as brushing your teeth? Thanks to the tooth fairy, the children had one-on-one guidance in learning proper brushing techniques in an engaging and fun way!

Throughout the day, we ended up seeing a total of 16 children for a check-up and clean. They all left with bright and sparkly smiles that day!

Shine Kogarah, 7th March 2024

We visited Rise and Shine Kogarah to provide an engaging educational talk and story time session. The children were captivated by our interactive book, eagerly following along with the story.

The storybook helped to emphasise the importance of choosing healthy snacks instead of sugary ones. They also learned that water is the healthiest choice for us all and should be consumed over soft drinks and juice. It was a delightful experience filled with learning and fun for everyone involved.

Integricare Brighton, 19th March 2024

Integricare Brighton, a local daycare located just 5 minutes away from our clinic. Our wonderful team has collaborated with Integricare in the past, providing valuable guidance and support for children and their families.

We had our lovely patient here who was super keen to have his teeth looked at! Using a small mirror and special dental tools, we check for signs of cavities, plaque build-up and teeth/jaw alignment. Next, we provide a gentle cleaning to remove any soft plaque that is present.

All children were great and listened attentively! We are grateful to provide a positive dental experience for kids from a young age and to help kickstart good oral health habits.

Integricare Rockdale, 4th June 2024

After a great success after the first visit at Integricare Rockdale, we were invited again for another visit! Our Tooth Fairy helped the children work on their brushing skills and spoke about foods that our teeth like to munch on.

The children’s favourite part was playing the game: Healthy vs Unhealthy snacks. In this interactive segment, the tooth fairy holds up and food or drink in which the kids have to guess if it is good or bad for our teeth. Needless to say, the children completed the game with all the right answers!

Another great visit filled with lots of learning at Integricare Rockdale!

Little Bunnies, 18th June 2024

We hopped our way to Little Bunnies today! The kids enjoyed learning how to brush their teeth in circles and flicks. Fun fact: After you brush your teeth, you should only spit out the toothpaste and avoid rinsing. Even the educators learned something new today!

By the end of the day, every child had received a comprehensive check-up and clean. Our wonderful Oral Health Therapist Rehab ensured that each experience was a positive one and helped to de-sensitise the process with all our special tools.

Each child received a goodie bag after their check-up and clean. They were ecstatic to find their own toothbrush and toothpaste with fun interactive games to take home. Don’t forget the parents too! The parents received an oral health report and pictures of their little one during the dental visit. It was wonderful to see their bright smiles and to know that we had made a positive impact on their dental health.

Angels of the Bay, 17th September 2024

We visited some beautiful little angels today at Angels of the Bay Daycare. The children were excited and full of curiosity as we shared a fun story called Mouth House, explaining how different germs can live in our mouths. We discussed the importance of keeping our teeth and tongue clean to prevent these bad germs from staying in there! It was a very lively experience, and we are bound to visit the kids again in 6 months for their next dental check-up & clean!
