Bright-On Bay Dental partnering with Local Daycares
Relationships and a safe environment help children to explore, learn through play and go on to form healthy, happy lives and relationships. We want to partner with daycares in the area to help children and their families begin their dental journey with a good strong start. We see daycares as an ideal opportunity to implement an oral health program to help promote good oral health habits to children and give back to the community.
The team at Bright-On Bay Dental want to help children build a good understanding of healthy oral health habits and the role of dental practitioners before they even get to their first dental visit.
Oral health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Developing good oral hygiene habits at a young age is crucial in preventing dental problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. Unfortunately, many young children do not receive adequate dental care, which can lead to serious health problems in the future. It is not uncommon these days, that children as young as 3-4 year olds, have to have dental treatment (which could have been prevented) carried out under general anaesthesia!
What our Program will entail
Bright-On Bay dental will provide oral-health related activities including story time and interactive games to target these four main points:
Daily Oral Hygiene
Encourage children to brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes each time.
Healthy Snacks
Discuss healthy snacks that promote oral health such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, and whole grain crackers.
Drinking water
Encourage children to drink water instead of sugary drinks. Make sure there is a water fountain or a jug of water available throughout the day.
Dental Visits
Role play what it is like to go to the dentist before undergoing a check-up with one of the oral health practitioners.
Dental Check-up
Comprehensive check-up and preventive treatment (clean and topical fluoride if indicated) can be provided if consent for child is provided prior to the visit.
